The word Nirvana comes from the root meaning 'to blow out' and refers to the extinguishing of the fires of greed, hatred and delusion. When these emotional and psychological defilements are destroyed by wisdom, the mind becomes free, radiant and joyful and at death one is no longer subject to rebirth. Buddhist philosophers debate whether Nirvana is absolute cessation or an ineffable transcendental state,
But:

I know not why God's wondrous grace
To me he hath made known,
Nor why, unworthy, Christ in love
Redeemed me for his own.
But I know whom I have believed,
And am persuaded that he is able
To keep that which I've committed
Unto him against that day.

I know not how this saving faith
To me he did impart,
Nor how believing in his word
Wrought peace within my heart.

Through Jesus the knowledge that we have instant Nirvana, great isn"t it? Heady stuff for a Braybrook boy.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
