There is no substitute for studying. We need students of the Word in TSA. We need students of prayer, evangelism and holiness. We need students of spiritual formation and leader development. We need students of culture and social policy. We need students of economics, architecture, construction, strategic thinking, compassion, counseling, administration, drug and alcohol addictions...etc...etc...
We are a dynamic army facing a changing world with layers and multiple dimensions of complexity, and even that is changing. It's as if the whole planet has Attention Deficit Disorder. That's OK. We serve the Lord who never changes and who loves us even as we morph into the 'interest de jour' of our journeys.
So let us be students, each one. Learning the ways of God to relate to the ways of the people to His glory and honor.
2 Timothy 2:15 (WesleyNT)
"Be diligent to present thyself unto God approved a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

Attention Deficit Disorder:
Hyperactivity - strong emotional reactions which swing through the whole spectrum of emotions at intense speed
Forgetfulness - in the learning curve of life - experience doesn't lead to efficiency
Poor impulse control - weak ego boundaries - can only think of oneself - immediate gratification
Distractibility - the inability to focus and really see which leads to procrastination
and the saddest part - the inability to maintain relationships - friendships may be formed but rarely maintained
Our God is a relational God!!!
So how do we the dynamic army - release the steam - quiet the mind - give the brain the right fuel - restructure the environment???
It seems to me that anybody who has ever made a change to this world was a thinker. So we need to be constantly challenged, to question and think.

I miss being a student in the formal sense. But we are students every day == every moment, if we want to be. Being observant is studious. Being objective is studious. Being creative is studious -- and reading God's word is studious as well. If I could start over . . .
R - You've proven my point well and asked the right question. The answer is found daily.
G - Let's join the thinkers.
B- You're one of the best students I know.

my thoughts would be...
Release the steam - accept Who is "in control" see psalm 46
Quiet the mind- meditation and prayer.. find and grasp true peace
Give the brain the right fuel- Read the Bible .. alone.. together.. aloud.. often.. again
Restructure the environment-
Carry the peace.. apply the reading.. serve God among His people.

We pray for opportunities to introduce our Lord to others. God provides - we tell, they listen, the Holy Spirit convicts, they accept. Hallelujah! Then the leaders move in and before long the people move out.
We forgive the leaders - for Christ compels us to do so.
We say nothing - for we must respect our leaders - the Bible tells us so.
We tell nobody - for we must not gossip.
We pray, we suffer in silence, we struggle with negative emotions, we depend on the Holy Spirit for everything. We think of our Christian brothers persecuted for their faith, but wonder why our own leaders persecute us. Then we remember the pharisees. We rejoice in our Lord, knowing he experienced the worst persecution from the leadership.
The question What Would Jesus Do? And what should I do? Jesus could display righteous anger and overturn tables, but I must not.
