Brunswick, Victoria
In the heart of the Melbourne Central Division you'll find a real Salvation Army. It's being led by Lieutenants Jason and Michelle Davies-Kildea and it has a remarkable place in the history of TSA. This was the corps band that went to war along with B/M Arthur Gulledge and who were promoted to glory when the ship they were aboard was sunk in WWII.
Today the corps is making history for it's extraordinary ministries to just about everybody in the neighborhood. Specific service to street people and employment programs for those hard to employ are complimented by a youth center that is sophisticated and effective. All this happens in the intentional atmosphere of leading them to Christ. Hallelujah!
Carolyn and I salute these amazing Salvationists, employees, volunteers and all.
Luke 10:27 (Darby)
27 "But he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thine understanding; and thy neighbour as thyself."

I was there a few years back. It is indeed a model that we might all follow. Good to see you are posting regularly
I had the privilege of ministering [in his latter years] to an ex-Brunswick bandsman who broke his leg just prior to the band departing for WWII, and he didn't get to go - and what incredible memories he shared - the heartache of 'being left behind' - coming to terms with losing all his buddies - the struggle with 'why was I spared'?
There was something about those days - the comradery of belonging to the band - not only playing together - but in lots of cases working along side each other daily - the real sense of community. I get a sense that this is what Jason & Michelle are doing at Brunswick in these days - making a community - a place where young people can have that sense of belonging - that someone really does care!
I stand with you and salute our Brunswick and all that is happening in God's name!
Thankyou to Commissioner Knaggs and others for your kind comments about our Corps at Brunswick. It was a pleasure to host our new Commissioners and to share with them the work which is happening here. We are grateful for your enthusiasm and encouragement to all who are part of our Corps and Community Program.
