Victoria Bush Fires 5

More people helped and more coming for help. We're now serving from 14 different sites in Victoria. We continue to give support where it is needed.

Tomorrow morning we will open up a permanent location in Whittlesea, revealing our intention to be there for the long haul. We want people to know that we plan to remain and keep working as long as necessary.

Have I mentioned that our people are doing a great job? They are. Salt and light are being dispensed. Hallelujah!

1 Corinthians 13:7 (MSG)
Love...7 Puts up with anything, Trusts God always, Always looks for the best, Never looks back, But keeps going to the end.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all the officers, soldiers and friends of the Southern Territory as you help fire victims in God's strength. May you have the right words to say and the physical and emotional strength to carry on in the days, weeks and months ahead. God Bless. from the Parker Family - Blacktown Corps. Aust East Territory

I'm just catching upon your blog after five days, as it's been a bit busy in Gippsland also. The Gippsland crew are going well! Thoroughly overwhelmed, stretched to the max, but doing well! Community is working together. Such amazing stories! By this time we should have our eight semi-trailer size container arrive for storage today, one of which has been turned into a cool-room for fresh vegies.

God is good!

Many British children such as myself found a home in Victoria after the burning of our cities by a wicked regime,we came to a different land than our own but with the same British sense of honesty and justice with an added dimension of mateship.A beautuful combination of the British flag and the Southern cross.

Core of my heart, my country!
Land of the rainbow gold,
For flood and fire and famine
She pays us back threefold.
Over the thirsty paddocks,
Watch, after many days,
The filmy veil of greenness
That thickens as we gaze.

An opal-hearted country,
A wilful, lavish land –
All you who have not loved her,
You will not understand –
Though earth holds many splendours,
Wherever I may die,
I know to what brown country
My homing thoughts will fly.

Perhaps the Salvation Army has
divested itself as a church but it is surely a good mate in time of need.If that comment is not political well so be it.

In living with the people of Yea and Alexander, with another cadet, sleeping where they slept and eating the food they ate for four days the Lord revealed a scripture to me. It is Romans 13:8 "Owe nothing to no one except to love one another;...".
The beauty of this is that it is occuring, people helping each other with no thoughts for their own gain but out of love. Some times the people offering help were not in a better situation than those who they offered the help to. Selfless love. I consdier it a privledge that I could serve from unloading trucks, helping with accomodation, prayer and most importantly having people share with me their stories, their journey so far. The greatest commandement is to love our neighbor and may it continue to be so as I know The Salvation Army are doing and many, many others. May God bless all those involed with the Victorian Bushfires.
