Time changes

Over the weekend we changed our clocks by moving them back one hour. In those quiet moments of the night, Australia went from five time zones to three. It was interesting today to note that a number of computers didn't take the changes so well. Some simply refused to change while others that did change, chose not to change on the calendars or diaries. Either way, when the realities changed around them, these machines who did their own thing were wrong.

With life as dynamic as it is, we're bound for change whether we like it or not. Not unlike these computers who resisted, we will find ourselves in the wrong place saying the wrong things with wrong expectations. Time to change?

2 Peter 3:9 (MSG)
9 God isn't late with his promise as some measure lateness. He is restraining himself on account of you, holding back the End because he doesn't want anyone lost. He's giving everyone space and time to change.

Thanks for another thought provoking blog. Like you I live in a different time zone to my family and thus I am constantly doing the mental gymnastics to work out appropriate times to make contact. My friends are in Melbourne, 2 hours behind me, my family in Adelaide, 2 1/2 hours behind me, and my husband in Rwanda, 10 hours behind me. I spend my days saying good morning to him as he heads for bed! All of which causes me to ponder if perhaps as Salvation Army Officers we don't at times also err on the side of becoming so used to constant change that we don't know how to sit and wait and allow things just to be, this can be exhausting and difficult for the people we lead. In 19 years of officership I have had 11 appointments, I nervously look forward to the day when for a time at least things can change a little less, this may be for me a greater struggle.

Jennifer - We miss you and continue to pray for you and your family. You have the mark of God's grace upon you. Trust Him even more today.

Sandy - I feel your angst. This might be a sign of maturity. I'm feeling that too.
