Getting it done

There are starters. There are managers. There are finishers. Not that we need any more labels, but in the Kingdom of God, where do you fit? Sometimes you hear the the expression, plan to finish well. There's something right about the injunction. What's the point of starting if you don't get to the finish?

Doesn't it just plain feel good to finish something? How about the conversation that doesn't know when to finish? Or how about the movie that passed the finish line long before the end of the movie? Most things are not as simple or even linear as start to finish. What I am sure of is that we will never finish well if we don't start.

Acts 20:24 (NIV)
24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me--the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace.

I love starting and I certainly don't mind finishing either - it's just the bit in the middle that I find difficult :-) Perhaps this is just me. Does everyone find maintenance mode boring or do I just have a short attention span?
