Commissioning at Thornbury

Tonight at the Thornbury Corps four new Captains were commissioned. New members of the Heralds of the Good News are:

- Captain Gregory Howard - Northern Territory Region
- Captain Julie Howard - Northern Territory Region
- Captain Genevieve Peterson - Melbourne Central Division
- Captain Catherine Shanks - Territorial Headquarters

God bless you each. Hallelujah!

Philippians 1:4-6 (NIV)
4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy
5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now,
6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Just wondering why they were commissioned outside the regular session, Comish?

This is great news as they are capable and skilled people of God involved in unique ministries.

I am wondering if it is now possible for people to be commissioned officers and not have a spouse who is also an officer or even in uniform?

Desperate times bring new measures

Being off line is a pain.

Anon 1 - A3 has a good answer. There was no reason to wait another day. Do you remember Auxiliary Captains being commissioned in the middle of the year. This is much the same.

Anon 2 - The answer to your question is no. None of those commissioned match the concerns you raise.

Anon 3 - People going to Hell makes us desperate.

I was at the commissioning and found it inspiring, particularly the large number of young people in attendance. It was also great to have the gathering in our hall. May the Lord be with the new Captains who are all so vitally involved in God's service. We need to pray for them.
