Old Buildings - New Plans

Sometimes, the best thing for an old building is new plans. Quite different from old wineskins, an old building has potential for new ideas and schemes and use.

One of the drawbacks of a 140 year old movement is that it involves old buildings. As good as they are, they tend to shape our plans and even dreams. We begin to think in terms of the potential of the walls and their limitations. A building focused movement will not move forward with aggression. We need to be mission focused, which is to say Christ focused.

Hebrews 12:2 (NIV)
2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

my third command as an active officer (now former) the corps building was an old Grand Union Supermarket Grocery Store purchased and renovated by the Army.

Incidently, I went to training from that corps, and eight years later returned as corps officer. As a former officer, I returned to the corps (at the invitation of a sessionmate who now is the CO) the corps has undergone an amazing transformation! Old buildings - New Plans...i like that idea.

I would love to think my ministry was not limited by four walls, and I strongly believe it is not. However a building gives a sign to what lays within. We all need somewhere to call home, even if it is a rented school hall or the like. Buildings can be a great asset to ministry as long as we do not lock ourselves within the walls. Our hall at Kaniva Vic is saying I am old and tired, I have had enough. Our ministry at Kaniva is saying it is time for rebirth, time for a new start. It is not a hall we want, but rather a meeting place. A place where all who are tired and wearly may come. Who knows who they might find.

Yes the Kaniva Citadel is starting to get old. Praise God the corps is still very much alive and active in its community! God bless you Capts David & Lynn! I love what you're doing in Kaniva! If you'd like to know my favourite part of your building see my blog: www.aeonity.com/salvotim

Sometimes, the best thing for an old ORGANISATION is new plans.
I have been watching as you have brought new ideas into play, but look forward to seeing a complete freeing of the Holy Spirit within our organisation.
All things are possible!
