Silent Saturday

Matthew 27:64 (NIV)
64 So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first."

Hadn't heard of Silent Saturday until now, but I find it an important time - much more than just a waiting space for Sunday. There's a resonance to the Easter Saturday experience that's easily overlooked. Sunday's comin' but let's not forget how we get there! Regards, JDK

It is always a striking visual reminder to me as the purple drape on the Cross is replaced by red on Maunday Thursday evening, then black on Good Friday afternoon to remain through Saturday.
I am in my chapel frequently through each of these days, and am caught by the significance of the black drape today.

I will replace the drape with white this evening in the final preparation for tomorrow, but not without humbly praying to God in gratitude. There are never enough words to express my gratitude for Jesus - my heart is full and overflowing from the blessing of God.

Celebrate and embrace this Resurrection Day as the continued love story of God's love through Christ Jesus.

Thanks, friends. I haven't heard of Silent Saturday before either.

David - you can see that I have removed your comment. You don't want to blaspheme the Lord, ever. He loves you and has given His life for you. Accepting His love will change your life. You don't have to be defensive. He will never force you to love Him.
