Majors Len and Marney Turner organised a powerful weekend at the Geelong Conference Centre. In worship of the Lord this morning, we saw God at work, encouraging individuals and couples to follow Jesus. Hallelujah!
We cannot downplay the need for officers in TSA. That starts with candidates for officership. Thank you, Lord for these who gathered to consider your grace and direction in their lives. May their journey glorify you.

Len and Marney - passionate Jesus people, amazing testimonies, good and faithful servants. Thank you Lord for calling them, and for using them in our Army of Salvation!
What a weekend - so many great and passionate people are responding to God's call to Officership on their lives.

This was quite honestly one of the most passionate, awesome and surprising weekends I've had. What a blessing to share with future session mates and fellow officers.
A big thank you to Len & Marney, who are not only inspiring officers, but also compassionate and caring friends and confidantes to us.
And thank you also to you Commissioners! Your message was both important and challenging.

I think officership in the Army is a great thing but not all are called to this ministry yet all have a ministry to which they are called. Im talking of those who wash the dishes, those who go to their secular jobs daily and spread the word of God with their actions and words I spoke to Marney for Quite some time when the Turners visited our corps (what a beautiful person) I agree with all that she said about corps not remaining insular and that it is a sign of spiritual growth for the Corps as well as personally when you see people answering this call but we tend to forget that being an officer is not the only way to serve Christ Myself personally have not even had a nudge in this direction (yet) Yet I believe I am a servant with a ministry made just for me. It seems to me there is very little opportunity for corps congregations to express their ministry unless they become an officer. I believe Im meant to be a Salvo but often feel limited by the structure of the Salvation Army - do I break free of that authority and do what I believe God is calling me to be or do I hang in there and see whats waiting for me. Does this make any sense??

Some believe that the greatest obstacle to the movement of Jesus Christ is Christianity.
I think the structure of the Army is MUCH LESS restrictive than other member's of Christ's Movement. Remaining true to Christ may mean standing up to the "Religious" leaders (like the early disciples did - eg. Acts 4).
Ultimately you won't break free of authority (we are unworthy). Maybe you need to take a deep breath and assess things - and use a full stop :)
