So the annual gathering of children and youth leaders of the Australia Southern Territory is occurring...and God is delighted. There are few crowds of people who are as engaging and committed to Christ, than these leaders.
They're under a lot of pressure to be creative and on the edge at all times. Staying ahead of the fastest moving generation in the history of the world is a formidable accomplishment. They're doing it with grace, courage and a holy abandon. Hallelujah! Good on ya! and kudos to TYS Lt. David Collinson, A/TYS Lt. Sonia Jeffrey and Major Sally-Anne Allchin, the Territorial Children's Ministries Secretary.
2 Corinthians 9:9 (MSG)
9 As one psalmist puts it, He throws caution to the winds, giving to the needy in reckless abandon. His right-living, right-giving ways never run out, never wear out.

We are having our DYL at this time as well. This is the first time in 9 years Janet and I will not be in attendance for all or part of one of these gatherings. In fact, I believe we attended 15 of these events. This either means we are old or that we never grew up;)
I pray for a sense of urgency in reaching the emerging generations with the Gospel in its purest form.
Last weekend we hosted a Children's Outreach Conference called MISSING. Basically calling the church to look for ways to reach out to the children that are missing from our churches. The speakers included Bart Campolo and Joe Noland.
Although it wasn't attended by as many as we had hoped, it was powerful. Joe Noland was so bold as to say that the church - including The Salvation Army - has not been doing a good job with outreach to children. Looking around at our corps, is he wrong?
No question that we must do better, but I believe the energy is misplaced when we go to what we're not doing. We've got to get to the kids. Your conference sounds brilliant. Is it possible there are recordings of the event and are they available?
Commissioner,
I will send you a set of the CDs when they are copied. Thank you for your encouragement and leadership!
