International Social Justice Commission

On 1 July 2007 a new unit of International Headquarters will come into being to be known as the International Social Justice Commission (ISJC). It will be led by a senior officer who will carry the designation of International Director for Social Justice. The Commission and the Director will be attached to the office of the Chief of the Staff. The first Director of the ISJC will be Commissioner M Christine MacMillan, presently serving as the Territorial Commander in the Canada and Bermuda Territory.

The General has written, "I ask for your sincere prayers that ongoing divine guidance may be granted to all concerned, and for honour to be brought to the precious name of the Lord Jesus Christ as this initiative gets started and unfolds."

This is a new moment in TSA. It is a significant step for us and it is good.

Amos 5:24 (NIV)
24 But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!

The perfect verse for a perfect ministry - "Let justice roll like a river, righteousness like a never ending stream".

Hy heart is strengthened to see such movement and decision about such important ministry formation.

Awesome decision by the General, hopefully we hear and see it's effects in our Territory very soon!

Since this office will be based in New York, I suppose that one of Commissioner McMillan's responsibilities will be to serve as The Salvation Army representative to the United Nations. If so, that's an exciting opportunity.
