Officers

Calling all Salvos! Search your heart to see if God is calling you to a life of challenge, purpose, holiness and service. Test God's plan for you by seeking to ascertain the feasibility of your future as an officer in TSA.

How about this: We have appointments that need to be filled now. Is this something you might do?

Or: Too many people are dying and going to hell. Would you help us stop the losses?

Perhaps: The need is the call.

Let me just say. If you even think it may be God's idea for you to serve in this way, step forward and celebrate your faith.

Mark 10:21 (MSG)
21 Jesus looked him hard in the eye—and loved him! He said, "There's one thing left: Go sell whatever you own and give it to the poor. All your wealth will then be heavenly wealth. And come follow me."

Do these appointments need to be filled now, or in 2 years?

Here I am my Lord - Send me!

Too many people are being lost... Join in the mighty Army. Seek, Serve & Save.

SASB 696
Soldiers of the cross arise!
The day is dawning nearer;
Shake the slumber from your eyes.
The light is growing clearer.
SIT NO LONGER IDLY BY,
WHILE THE HEEDLESS MILLIONS DIE.
LIFT THE BLOOD STAINED BANNER HIGH,
AND TAKE THE FIELD FOR JESUS!!

Storm the forts of darkness, bring them down, bring them down.
Pull down the devil's kingdom, Where'er he holds dominion; Storm the forts of darkness bring them down.

Read the WHOLE song, seek out God's will for your lives...You'll NEVER EVER look back!!

Win the world for Jesus!

Storming the forts for as long as I live,
Cadet Stobes!!!

The world today has a problem with dedication and giving whole devotion to things. Look at relationships and even the church! Within the Salvo's it's obvious that our 'soldiers' are weak in their own devotion to God -some army we are - most of the soldiers are only happy with sitting in the trenches drinking coffee while the battles going on!

Even some of the 'leaders' in the Army are half-hearted in their public declaration of the 'try before you buy' officership. For example, how can you encourage the youth of our territory to become officers and give our whole life over with our role models - i pray we have our own convictions.

In early Army, the solders and officers gave EVERYTHING to God, and William summed it up nicely "I will tell you the secret. God has all there was of me...I made up my mind that God would have all of William Booth there was. And if there is anything of power in the Salvation Army today, it is because God had all the adoration of my heart, all the power of my will, and all the influence of my life"
Amen, and yeah Aaron - lets storm the forts of darkness and stop just singing about it!!

As I locked my car door and headed for the office this morning in my heart I was thinking - is this really what you want me to do? what is the ministry you want me to do? is this the best way to serve you?

Then I read the TC blog - just too much of a coincident?

I'm not sure what the answer is. I suppose I've just got to trust God and follow his lead.

B's and Stobie - We need you right where you are for now. Hallelujah!

GG - Good word.

Anon - Trust Him and go for it! His plan will fit you perfectly. Can I help?

Simon Peter - We need to talk. Now you know I don't agree with some of your conclusions, but I like your heart. Can we talk?

my first reaction to this was Jump! for two reasons, because the Holy spirit has me in lock down right now, and I'm sold out for Him. And 2. Because this came from my friend Jim. The disciples dropped what they were doing to answer the call. Why? Certainly not because the Holy Spirit was in them. It was because it was Jesus doing the calling. When Jim places the call, I know him, and I know it is Jesus on the phone. But I'm feeling Simon Peter in this too. Is the Army still representing Jesus when it calls us? Or the idea of Jesus? I'm blessed at my corps, Jesus is there, when we are open. But we stand at the doors and wait for them to be opened, and too soon the meeting is over and the doors locked. The streets are filled with the lost. Let's be sure we know who is calling and who we are following.
The Holy Spirit is doing a new work in many of us. We would just assume go it alone with him on the streets handling the lost one by one then hook up with something that is going to drown us in procedure and statistics.

But let me say, sorry for the embarrassment Jim, that if you hear a call from Jim Knaggs, it's coming from the Lord. Hook it up.

Often get that weird feeling in my stomach when the thought of being on officer comes into my head. I wonder if it really is what God wants me to do...

To Simon Peter - Be careful not to taint all Soldiers with the brush of frustration... to have leaders there must be followers.
TC, your words have confirmed hearts here, thank-you. We are ready for to take up our cross and follow Luke 9:23.

I want so much to jump in now and follow the call God put on my life when I was 16 but I know the time for me is not now because in my heart I hear God saying, "Wait, I have more to teach you" I pray that everyone would be eager to follow the call and want it with all their heart because God's call on my life has made who I am today and given me new hope.
Blessings,
Tish

It is great to read the passion you have for the world to know about God. We are there ready to answer that call ! but we must be obedient to God and His perfect timing in this.
The Holy Spirit is stirring up this movement, lets make sure we are not afraid to get our hands dirty !
