Prayers for a New Neighbourhood

Whilst moving into a new neighbourhood, we attempt to be salt and light to the Blackburn community. It would be interesting to assess the impact we've had in Mont Albert. I get the financial impact, but what about the spiritual?

We must do so in Blackburn. We've been praying through the streets and for all the transitions in lives. Now, Lord, enable us to reveal your glory in practical ways in this new community. Please help us to be effective in our witness and resolve to follow you in every way.

We go forward in your name.

Joshua 1:3 (MSG)
3 I'm giving you every square inch of the land you set your foot on—just as I promised Moses.

I must say I found Blackburn an interesting choice for The Salvation Army. Last year it had the highest growth in median house prices in Melbourne, which puts it way above the average. Is the location strategic in some way?

Respectfully, JDK

How long was Mont Albert home for your THQ?

We've been 15 years in Mont Albert.

The strategy, which has been in place for over five years, was to bring THQ to one location where all of its departments could be in the same location. Second to that was to minimise the relocation by remaining in close proximity to Mont Albert. There should be no loss of valuable employees and no need to relocate officers quarters. Both of these factors are very expensive. The cost in terms of real dollars too is always a part of the equation.

The teams that have worked on this for over 5 years have served us well in the process. My description above only touched some of he bases of the benefits to the mission of moving.
