NATSICA Launch

The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Christian Alliance was launched today in Canberra. They represent Christian Aboriginals in Australia. We are greatly impressed with the individuals and churches involved in this alliance and believe that their efforts will be productive for all Australians, in particular, Aboriginals.

The Salvation Army is connected to the alliance in these early days and celebrates the launch and expectations of NATSICA. I believe we will make progress with this initiative and that God will bless what they will do in His name.

1 Corinthians 12:13 (MSG)
13 By means of his one Spirit, we all said good-bye to our partial and piecemeal lives. We each used to independently call our own shots, but then we entered into a large and integrated life in which he has the final say in everything. (This is what we proclaimed in word and action when we were baptized.) Each of us is now a part of his resurrection body, refreshed and sustained at one fountain—his Spirit—where we all come to drink. The old labels we once used to identify ourselves—labels like Jew or Greek, slave or free—are no longer useful. We need something larger, more comprehensive.

whoops you possibly meant The National Aboriginal Torres Strait Island Christian Alliance amazing how a word in the wrong place can change the whole meaning.

Great to hear of the Salvos involvement in this group. We are hosting a "Reconciliation Church Service" as part of reconciliation week, with a community Aboriginal Elder commencing the service with a welcome, and an Aboriginal pastor preaching - I'm looking forward to it! It's just one simple way we can connect with the local indigenous population.
