Drought Relief
Australian farmers and rural communities are suffering severe hardship after years of drought.
The Salvation Army believes there is an urgent need to provide practical assistance and support to those in crisis. To do this, we request your immediate help to raise $2 million that will begin to help them in ways that include:
* Provision of drinking water
* Relief provision (groceries and other assistance)
* School expenses
* Outreach
* Community and social activities

Isaiah 58:11 (NIV)
11 The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

Thanks for the word of advertising regarding the Drought Appeal.
For your information, I note that there is a contradiction in phone number ~ the official media release and TV commercial state 13 72 58. However, the territory's homepage and your blog entry state ...13 72 78!
You might want to correct this.
Every blessing!
Tim
The phone number on the web has now been corrected to 13 72 58

I have this verse posted on my blog - I really believe it is a word for us right now, both a warning and a promise of relief during this time of drought.
The verses 9 & 10 give us an indication of what is required of us.
ISAIAH 58:9-10 (NIV)
"If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday."
The drought relief fund will be working for this end! This sounds like the vision of William Booth to me! May the light of God shine on the Army, so that Australia can see Jesus in our work and in him find the water of life!
