The Spirit was definitly moving last night. The music, the message presented had something for everyone. Then our children (6 & 5) asked to go down to the cross and pray! Thank you God!!
I attended the Friday sessions and found them interesting and inspiring. However, it would have been good to explore some of the topics in more depth as most sessions only seemed to sratch the surface.
Addictive Connections - I was horrified at the suggestion that we sanctify needle exchange..... No way....Yes our Jesus went down into the gutters to retrieve his lost, but he didn't stay down there, he spoke truth that they could be healed of their afflictions, he let them know that he loved them, he healed them and he set them free, and led them out of darkness, he offered them another way, with no compromise that is the power of our God, he is almighty there is nothing he cannot do, and just as he healed through Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit, we were told by Jesus that "these are not miracles - you can do these things and more if you would only believe" herein lies the problem our Army and many other churches today they are filled with "believers who really don't believe". I have witnessed the transforming power of God in my own life, been set free of addictions to drugs, alcohol, cigarettes & abusive relationships, and have witnessed many friends from the same background being transformed, God is alive and well !!!! Amen.. We cannot compromise one inch on what we stand for, for too long out of fear of dwindling numbers our churches have been accepting bad behaviour and have slipped into complacency, we truly have to get back to the basics of who we are and who we represent we are sent to search for and reach out to the lost, last and least" of God's children and to bring them home. May God bless our Commissioners for their faithfullness in accepting Gods leading in coming here, and for organising (with much help behind the scenes, this Connections 07) and for allowing the power of God to spill from their mouths, (I recognise my Heavenly Father's voice and have confirmation of this when my whole spirit lights up within me, and a conviction beyond any doubt "that all things are possible". Thank you for a weekend that I will never forget.
Janice - I'm so glad you were there. Your thinking here is sound and is what we need to hear in the feedback from Connections. I will forward a copy of what you've given to our Mission Development office, but encourage you to be included with the forums that can happen at social programme centres, corps and divisions. I'm counting on further discussion and input. Thanks.
