Christmas Carols

There is a huge difference between Christmas Songs and Christmas Carols. The songs are those that are about the season and usually include references to Father Christmas, reindeer and the like. The carols speak to the message of Christmas and contain significant theology as well.

Of course, they are no replacement for scripture and in a number of cases, embellish the account and use poetic license to enhance the imagery of the story. It should call us to familiarise ourselves with the authentic account in the Word of God, even as we sing the carols we enjoy.

Have a happy Christmas.

Luke 2:13-14 (NIV)
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14 "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."
