Different Perspectives

You can go through the day hearing all types of ideas about life and what God expects of us. It is amazing to me how we tend to see the same things so differently. An interesting measure of the veracity of the commentator is the presence of God in their perspective. Is the grace of God evident?

I have a concern about our need to be judgmental about each other. Is it because we are so dedicated to the truth that we cannot bear hearing or observing anything we believe to be off the mark? Here's where I cannot take the liberty to become judgmental about those who are judgmental.

Let the point be our resolve to depend upon the Word of God to clarify our thinking when we have our differences...and be marked by the grace of God.

Ephesians 4:2-3 (MSG)
2 And mark that you do this with humility and discipline—not in fits and starts, but steadily, pouring yourselves out for each other in acts of love,
3 alert at noticing differences and quick at mending fences.

interesting...i have often thought that we are very judgemental about those we see as judgemental. i wish it were different. i think it is because we become so passionate about what we believe. when passion dies down, often grace can abound. then we can live peacefully with those with whom we disagree, respecting their opinion.

thanks for this today. i needed to read it.

I was just at my parents corps last weekend doing the Christmas visit in NSW. I had to endure one of those night where all the other Corps were talked about and all thier faults pointed out. We seem to have forgotten that we are one Salvation Army church with many congregations, we should celebrate our neighbour more.
